If I'm reading the javacore.txt file correctly then the failure is this stack:

You say you ran the install and then started the setup and hit this - how far into remote setup where you? Have you tried setting the server up locally instead of remote? Are you using the same version of the remotesetup to match the server? So, for example, to setup 8.01 server would need the 8.01 client?
